"Bill" Hicks

William E. "Bill" Hicks, age 68, of Birmingham, AL, passed away Thursday morning, April 24, 2014. He was born in Susan Moore, AL on December 19, 1945.

Bill graduated from Susan Moore High School and attended the University of Alabama. He served in the Alabama National Guard as a sargeant before becoming a business owner, most recently of Astech LLC. When he wasn't spending time with his family and friends, his favorite pastimes included golf, fishing, boating, hunting, Alabama Crimson Tide football, and Nascar.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Earl Andrew Hicks and Virgie Waid Hicks, and father-in-law, Rudy Parker. Survivors include Bill's wife of almost 47 years, Becky Hicks of Birmingham; two daughters, Donna "Michelle" Benedict (Dean) and Rebecca "Leigh" Buchanan, both of Birmingham; one son, Jonathan "Jon Marc" Hicks (Sabine) of Dacula, GA; grandchildren, Michael "Cameron" Harkins, "Connor" Andrew Harkins, and "Bailey" William Harkins, all three of Birmingham, "Caitlynne" Isabella Hicks-Anderson of Warner Robins, GA, "Gwen" Elizabeth Hicks of Dacula, GA, and Dansby Benedict, Culver Benedict, and Celia Benedict, all three of Birmingham; nine nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Hazel "Boots" Parker of Lakeview, AL; and many other relatives.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014 in Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham, followed by burial in Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
