

HARRIS, B.J., Birmingham native and life-long resident, passed away Monday morning, May 14, 2012, at the age of 67. A University of Montevallo graduate and U.S. Marine Corp Reserves Veteran, B.J. was a homebuilder, residential developer, and president of Harbar Homes from 1972 to 2006. He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Harris; foster parents, Willette and Clem Wood; and mother-in-law, Margaret R. Neely. Survivors include B.J.'s wife of 42 years, Nancy N. Harris; son, Brooks Harris (Anna); daughter, Neely Harris Lohmann (Lars); grandchildren, John Brooks Harris and Anne Carson Harris; nephew, D. John Spangler; cousin, Tommy Harris (Alma); and sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Cofield. B.J. is also survived by Jan Wood Brown and Don Wood, daughter and son of Willette and Clem Wood; and Stephanie Brown Kies, granddaughter of Willette and Clem Wood. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the 3 p.m. memorial service on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham.
