Catherine Collins Lackey

Catherine was born on June 29, 1979, in Birmingham, AL to (late) Michael Clagett Collins and Susan Spencer Collins. A graduate of Vestavia Hills High School, Catherine attended the University of Virginia, earning a bachelor’s of Arts, English degree. A few years later earning her Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Post-grad Catherine returned to Birmingham to begin her professional career. She began her career at BCBS of Alabama as a customer service representative. She went on to hold several management positions with the claims operations at BCBSAL. Later in her career, Catherine was recruited to several national insurance companies to manage their claims operations.

Catherine was married to Jason Lackey for 18 years and had several retired greyhounds throughout their lives together.

Catherine had a passion for endurance activities and was an avid runner and triathlete. Competing in several marathons and triathlons, including completing 7 full Ironman races and the Hood to Coast Relay.

Catherine brought grit, determination, and humor to all her endeavors. She was known for her dazzling smile and ability to unite her teams at work and friends across her personal circles.

Catherine is survived by her husband; Jason Lackey; mother, Susan Collins; and sister, Rebecca Reveal.

A memorial service for Catherine will be held Saturday, September 17th at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 1912 Canyon Road Vestavia Hills, AL 35216.

A viewing will be at 1:00 PM, with a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM. A reception will follow at the church.
