

Charles Lamar Rawls joined fellowship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after passing this life peacefully on November 4, 2013. Born November 21, 1944, he was raised in Atlanta, GA, where he graduated from Southwest Dekalb High School in 1962 and the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1971, earning a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering after faithfully serving his country in the United States Air Force from 1966 through 1969.
Upon graduation from Georgia Tech, Lamar started his professional career in the foundry business as the Assistant Marketing Director at Columbus Foundries, Inc. in Columbus, GA. He later served as Vice President of Marketing for Alabama Ductile Iron Co. in Brewton, AL, Assistant Marketing Director for Citation Corp. in Birmingham, AL, Vice President of Marketing for Noblesville Foundry in Noblesville, IN, and Assistant Marketing Director for Wheland Foundries in Chattanooga, TN. He retired from Metlife Ins. Co., but continued to work part-time until his death.
Lamar was a gentle, kind, and caring man who was dedicated and devoted to his family - and to his grandchildren in particular. He loved the Lord and was an active member of the Branches, his beloved Sunday School class at The Church at Brook Hills.
Lamar is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Peggy Rawls; his son, Charles Rawls, Jr. (Jen); his daughter, Amy Reese (Joseph); four grandchildren, Joseph and Davis Reese, and Lawson and Abigail Rawls; two sisters, Charlene Hicks (Larry) and Hilda Thomas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. until the 12 noon funeral service Thursday, November 7, 2013 at The Church at Brook Hills, Birmingham. Burial will follow at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
