

Cheryl graduated from Dothan High School in 1963 and studied at the Lippert College of Court Reporting. She worked s a court reporter for the State of Alabama Criminal Justice Center in downtown Birmingham.
Cheryl, a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Birmingham, loved to spend her leisure time with family and friends. She was an exceptionally creative decorator.
Preceding Cheryl in death were her husband of 34 years, Stephen J. Shader, Jr.; her parents, Paul T. and Mary B. Holland; and one sister, Gloria Jean Holland Gamble.
Survivors include Cheryl's son, Stephen DeVane (Patti); granddaughter, Haley DeVane Higgins (Jordan); great-granddaughter, Jane Eliza; two sisters, Rhonda Holland Hooks (Kirk Zimmer) and Paulette Marquette (Terry); step-children, Karen Shader, Cathleen Graham, Stephen J. Shader III (Onnie), Harold Shader (Amy), and Judy Ann Creamer; step-grandchildren, Christopher (Nikki), Jennifer (Mark), Julie, Gregory, Katie (Allen), Harold Jr., Warren, and Sophia; and step-great-grandchildren, Alexander, Lucia, Avery, and Anderson.
The family will greet friends from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, immediately followed by A Service of Remembrance for Cheryl at 2 p.m. at the funeral home's chapel. Interment will be at the mausoleum at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham. Father Bob Sullivan will officiate.
