Clark was a good man and a good friend. He was, indeed, "Mr. Siluria" at our church where he welcomed everyone with a genuine smile, and demonstrated his big heart with acts of service. He's been missed. Love and prayers to Mary, Kate, Thomas and Susan.

I am so sorry over the passing of Clark Boyd. Myself along with several of my life long friends served under then CAPT Clark Boyd when he was the Commander of A Co. 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment at Ft Campbell, KY during the mid ‘80s.  His exemplary leadership coupled with the love and dedication he had towards the men of his company left an indelible mark on me and my brothers.  I’m reminded of the time myself and nine other members of the Grenade Committee were taken to West Point Academy’s Provost Marshall’s Office and written up on formal charges over a “mooning” incident which occurred on West Point after an afternoon of drinking.  Our afternoon of fun turned serious pretty quickly after learning the folks we “mooned” on the golf course that day was none other than the Commandant of West Point, his wife, football coach and several other field grade officers and VIPs.  How  CAPT Boyd was ever able to get us off the hook with nothing more than letters of apology to the CG and his wife has always been something of wonder to me and the other nine.  Regardless we were and are still very grateful for you sir.  You were a great leader of men and a fine example of how every man should conduct himself.  You will surely be missed by all that had the great privilege and honor of knowing you.  God Bless you and your family sir -STRIKE FORCE!

To the family of Clark Boyd: I send my prayers to you all. I met Clark when we started college at UNA. I became close friends with all the ROTC “Dorm Rats” including the “Four Musketeers” but I was a local boy that got to go home each night. I never met a finer bunch of guys. Between classes, homework, work, and ROTC training activities we had a pretty tight schedule, but every opportunity Clark got he went home to see Mary, his true love. I never met a finer example of a morally upright, good hearted, Christian man than Clark Boyd. I could talk to Clark about anything and get his honest, helpful, heartfelt input. We all graduated and went to the four winds with Army assignments. I was home from Alaska and got to see Clark at UNA when he was an ROTC instructor. After all the bear hugs and back slapping was done, I walked away from our visit knowing how fortunate the cadets were to have such an outstanding man as an instructor. His guidance was a blessing to those cadets and I’m sure he trained some fine Army officers as a result. To Mary and the kids, I want you all to know that Clark has always been one of my moral heroes. This world does not have enough wonderful men like Clark Boyd in it. I love you and miss you, brother.

During the 1977-1978 School Year at UNA Lyndon and Clark would be seen continuously training to prove to ROTC Cadre that we were serious about attending Airborne training at Fort Benning, GA. Running, push-ups, pull-ups and more running, push-ups and pull-ups were part of our daily routine. We got to know the Florence City Streets between Willingham Road, North Wood Ave and Seven Points very well. During inclement weather we would run up and down the stairwells of Rivers Hall from 1st Floor to the top floor and back down again. 3,4,5 times...to exhaustion. We were ready, we proved it and were placed on orders to Jump School.  Clark, Roster number C170, and Lyndon, roster number C171, successfully completed Airborne Training from 12 May - 2 Jun 1978. Graduating on Fryar Drop Zone. Congratulations Brother!  AIRBORNE! ALL THE WAY...AND THEN SOME! AIRBORNE!

In the UNA Economic Geography course Clark, Lyndon and Jim traveled to visit industries and analyze geographic factors that caused them to establish in the region. Mr. Green, we were honored to have you as our professor; your mentorship served us well in the military and civilian careers. 

What a Team we were! Travis, Lyndon, Clark and Jim were named by Mr. Green, of the UNA Geography Department, as the "Four Musketeers". Near inseparable, we cared for and supported each other in all we did.  I can still smell the burning boot polish as we prepared for drill in Rivers Hall Room 121. You will always be my brothers. Dear Family of Clark Boyd:  My thoughts and prayers are with you in this time.  Clark and I first met in the 1977 school year at UNA. We immediately “clicked” and encouraged and challenged each other to success in all that we did.  Clark was my mentor in military bearing and skills. In this Spring Season of our lives, we were each other’s confidant in all things…hopes, aspirations, fears, aches, hurts and goals for the future. His wisdom, gained from his mother and father, was such a blessing to me. We challenged each other toward success in all that we did at UNA. We became roommates, Room 121 Rivers Hall, and became even closer. We were Brothers in spirit and soul. I am proud to call Clark my brother. Be it ROTC studies and training, Geography studies, preparation for Airborne training and Advanced Camp and one day commissioning we were in tune with others challenges and pushed each other to success. Mary, you are the love of his life. He looked forward to getting home to his Sweetheart every possible weekend. I so hoped to find a mate like Mary. I finally found her!  In the Summer and Fall of our lives our paths took different directions with assignments around the world, but my memories of our younger days remain. Mary, I have always appreciated the Christmas Card updates through the years, they kept the flame of our brotherhood alive.  Winter approaches different people at different times. As I approach retirement and start to look forward to traveling and visit past friends and places…the big soldier bear hug I anticipated giving Clark has slipped away. I am thankful that we again got to share our hearts with each other by phone on 26 January.  Clark, I am proud of you! My respect, love and admiration for my big brother, Clark. As brothers in Jesus Christ, saved by His Grace; I now focus on the eternal and reunion in glory. Thomas, Kate, and Susan, I am so proud, yet humbled, to have known your father. Clark was a big man with a big heart. He's remembered for his faithfulness to Christ and his church, and especially his love for boys and girls whom he brought to Siluria Baptist Church in the church van. He had big shoulders and was willing to hear his pastor's burdens, and to offer sage advice. It's hard to imagine Siluria Baptist Church without him.
