Daniel B. Gilmore Jr.

Daniel Bankhead Gilmore, Jr., age 87 of Birmingham, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015. Daniel was born in Shreveport, LA. He graduated from Tarrant High School, where he played both football and baseball; and from Auburn University in 1950, where he played AU varsity baseball. Also at Auburn, he was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. Mr. Gilmore was a retired U.S. Army commissioned officer. He was retired from Alabama Power Company and a member of numerous travelcade clubs.

Mr. Gilmore is survived by his sons, Daniel B. Gilmore, III and Timothy R. Gilmore; daughter, Nancy Gilmore Remke (Bernard); grandchildren, Amanda Lee Remke and Daniel Bernard Remke; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The celebration of Mr. Gilmore’s life will be at 1pm on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Cahaba Heights United Methodist Church, 3139 Cahaba Heights Road, Vestavia, AL 35243. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday beginning at noon. Following the church service, the graveside committal will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
