

He was born on June 23, 1955, in Sylacauga, Alabama. He graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering and later earned a master's degree in business from Samford University.
David enjoyed a long and successful career in Sales Engineering with BlueCross Blue Shield where he eventually retired from after many years.
He was a passionate Auburn football fan, an avid reader, particularly of political topics, and a true lover of Tom Petty music. He was also a history and movie buff and had an appreciation for Woody Allen films, World War II movies, and science fiction.
Above all, David was a wonderful father who was loyal, kind, and always ready to make his loved ones laugh. He had a deep love for dogs, especially his beloved dog, Dite, who brought him great joy.
David was preceded in death by his parents, William Edwards, Jr. and Carolyn Edwards; his sister, Susan Edwards; and his aunt, Hazel Edwards.
He is survived by his beloved daughters, Ashley Elizabeth Edwards and Brittany Lee Edwards; his brothers, Steven Edwards and Mike Edwards; and many other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on March 31, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with a graveside service following at 12:00 pm. Everyone will resume back at the funeral home to enjoy a luncheon in David's honor after the service.
