David Garrett Little

David Garrett Little (36), beloved son, brother, uncle, and nephew, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. Born May 1, 1985, in Birmingham, Alabama, he was the son of Leith Smith Little and Ernest Alan Little (Sheryl).

David attended Deerfield-Windsor School in Albany, Georgia, then went on to graduate from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. Upon graduation, David moved to Fredericksburg, Virginia, then on to Washington, DC, where he worked as a veterinary technician for over 10 years. He specialized in orthopedic surgery and radiology, and often cared for animals brought in by the Smithsonian National Zoo. In 2020, David relocated to Gilbert, Arizona, where he transitioned into the pet insurance industry.

In addition to his life-long passion for helping animals, David enjoyed reading, drawing/graphic art, working puzzles, and spending time outdoors, including exploring the many bike trails around Gilbert. He was a kind, goofy, and generous soul. David’s constant companions were his two Munchkin cats, Fred and Walter, whom he loved dearly. He had a deep-rooted faith in God and was an active member of The Bridge Church in Gilbert, assisting with their service’s audio/visual and technical needs.

Along with his parents, David is survived by his siblings, Jonathan Alan Little and Mary Leith Lewis (James); niece, Demitra Leith Lewis; maternal grandmother, Mary Garrett Smith; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Jesse Curry Smith, Jr.; and paternal grandparents, Floyd N. Little and Ernestine Griffin Little.

The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Chapel in Pelham, Alabama, with the gravesite committal service following at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham. After the gravesite committal service, the family will greet friends at A Celebration of Life Reception at the funeral home.
