

Mr. David Lee Truss was born to Louise and Clarence Truss on December 28, 1943, in Bessemer, AL. He moved to Bronx, New York where he spent his adult years. He married Marva Jean Debrow on August 13, 1967 and was happily married until God called her home on October 6, 1997.
David worked for Weiss and Sons, Hobb Electric, IG Federal in New York and OPA in Birmingham, AL. David returned to Birmingham in August 1997. He joined First Baptist Brighton and sang in the choir.
David changed his membership to Hopewell Baptist Church. During this time he traveled with the pastor to do what he loved which was singing for the Lord. David sang with various choirs around Birmingham including the Cairo Brownsville Male Choir, Jefferson County Male Chorus, Sixth Avenue Men of Distinction, and Truss n God.
David was preceded in death by his wife Marva Jean Truss, sister Mildred Truss, brothers Richard Truss, Luther Herbert Truss, and Willie Truss.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Michelle, Everie, Brett (Tracey), David Edward (Tracey), David Anthony, and Teani. Grandchildren; Tonya (Carvell), Aisha, Curtis, Breanna, and Trennie. Great grandchildren; Khyla, Aiden, Karrington, and Nevaeh. Sisters, Margaret Hill, Angela Buford, LaVonda Odum (Craig), Tara Truss Green (Antonio), Brothers; Stanley Davis and Randy Davis. David leaves many other relatives who loved him dearly, nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2017 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Hopewell Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in Bessemer, AL.
