He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Peggy Walker Glass, sister Janet Glass Marlowe, as well as Steve and Junko Fleming, a precious daycare family for several years, who named Pastor Don and Peggy "Alabama Grandpa and Grandma" to their children Hiromi and Yoshi in 2015 when moving out of state. They are now truly family and are such a blessing to them. Hiro and Yoshi are gifts from God and the most wonderful grandchildren.
Don played football for the Woodlawn Colonels with Tony Nathan in 1972 and graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1973. He worked with Globe Life Insurance company from 1972-1991, attaining President's Club and becoming the number one agent in the nation in 1989 after he gave his life to Jesus and learned to tithe. Don was a member of Parkway Christian Fellowship from 1986-1990, and entered the ministry in 1990. In 1991 he was sent to plant a church in Leeds, Alabama. He was licensed by Pastor Mark Correll and graduated from Vision Christian University Bible College and ordained in 1993. Pastor Don founded and pastored Parkway Christian Fellowship (Leeds) in May of 1991. While there, he and Peggy founded Church on the Way and Children on the Way Preschool and Early Learning Center which ministered to and blessed many families from 1993-2020. In 2005 they founded and operated Joseph's Storehouse Christian Thriftstore until 2017. While ministering to the Leeds community, Pastor Don led as President of the Leeds Ministerial Association from 1993-1996. They also served on the Board of Directors for the Leeds Welfare Cooperative from 1995-2001. In 2018, Pastor Don took a sabbatical rest and he and Peggy began worshiping at Metropolitan Church of God. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Mildred Glass, brother Joe Glass, and dear friend for 30 years, Prophet James Petty. Don will be greatly missed by many.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Southern Heritage. Visitation will be held from 11am to noon. Service begins at noon with Tom Fridy and Pastor Harold Kelley officiating. Graveside service following at same location.
