93, died on February 4, 2013. Doris was born in Birmingham on May 4, 1919 to the late Fannie and Bethel DeLoach. She graduated from Ensley High School and married Harry Crosby in 1937. While her husband served in the Pacific during WWII, Doris spent the early years of her marriage raising her only daughter, Dolores, and, like so many women of her generation, finding her way in the business world. Doris enjoyed a long career in the insurance industry, working for many years for the Dick Dawson Insurance Agency of Birmingham. She received several accolades throughout her career, including the Insurance Woman of the Year Award in 1973. Doris was an avid sports fan, loved to travel and kept a positive attitude throughout her life. After Harry died in 1989, Doris met James Hall on a Caribbean cruise vacation where they both discovered they made each other laugh endlessly. They married in 1992. Doris was a faithful servant, a true friend, a loving mother and grandmother, and a blessing to all who knew her. Doris was predeceased by her siblings Harold DeLoach, Garland DeLoach and twin sister Lois Craig, husbands Harry Crosby and James Hall, and son in-law, Fred Wood. She is survived by her daughter, Dolores Wood, her grandchildren, Trey Wood (Kelly) and Tracy Comas (Scott), four great-grandchildren, Lindsey Comas, Michael Comas, Julia Wood and John Wood, her brother William DeLoach (Nelda), and many nieces, nephews, step-children and step-grandchildren from California to Florida. Doris was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Birmingham, 2209 Lakeshore Drive, Birmingham, AL 35209. A memorial service will be held there on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 2:00. The family requests that any gifts be made to the First Baptist Church of Birmingham.
