She was born in Tennessee on July 18, 1942. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Carson Newman College and later dedicated her career to the Federal Government, where she worked for Social Security.
In May 1960, she married the love of her life, George David LaFerry.
Dorothy’s life was marked by faith and a strong sense of community. She was a member of Steele Methodist Fellowship Church where she found a second family in her fellow congregants. She had a passion for her church and the ARC of Central Alabama.
She is preceded in death by her late husband, George. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Livingston (Herchel), and by her church family.
A Visitation for Dorothy will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. A Service of Celebration of Life will follow at 11:30 AM.
