

Edwin M. Buczek, 92, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on July 9, 2015. Born on February 22, 1923 in Arnold, Pennsylvania, he was the son Waleryan and Aniela (Kochanowska) Buczek. He attended Arnold High School and the Pennsylvania State University, New Kensington. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Buczek was assigned to the WWII European Theatre, serving in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. He married Esther Mae (Thimons) Buczek and they spent 62 wonderful years together. Mr. Buczek was employed by PPG Industries for 46 years, retiring as Superintendent of Quality Control at the Aerospace Transparencies Plant in Huntsville, Alabama. He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing golf and visiting with family and friends.
Mr. Buczek is survived by his sons Edwin M. Jr. (Wilma) of Maryville, Tennessee, and Daniel E. (Sharon) of Birmingham, Alabama. Also surviving are grandchildren Christopher (Peyton), Michael (Melissa), Bryan and Kathryn, great-grandchildren Avery and Bennett, and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife Esther, his parents, sisters Stephania Tomkiewicz, Genevieve Dominik, and Anna Glebovich, and brothers William and Walter Buczek.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 15, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Birmingham, followed by a prayer service. Friends will also be received at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, at Our Lady of the Valley, prior to the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
