Elaine was born on April 13, 1960 at Camp Lejune, North Carolina and had lived in the Birmingham, Alabama area for the past 27 years. She graduated from University High School in Irvine, California and California State University Fullerton with a BA degree in Marketing.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Brian Wingard; son, Phillip Wood; daughter, Kara Wingard; mother, Reba Bynum Wood; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Elaine was preceded in death by her father, Lt. Col. Howard Carlton Wood, USMC Ret.; and brothers, Larry Howard Wood, David Carlton Wood, and Steven Lee Wood; paternal grandparents, Luther and Gladys Wood; and maternal grandparents, William G. and Lollie Bynum.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, immediately followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
