Flora Simanyi

Flora graduated from Hoover High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She was a beloved mother, daughter, and aunt. She loved her family and friends unconditionally.

She had a passion for amusement parks, crime shows, and anything scary. Halloween was her favorite holiday. She gave the best presents to the kids at Christmastime, and loved family celebrations. She kept a positive outlook on life even despite some difficult health struggles.

Flora is survived by her longtime partner, Matthew Chambless; her daughter, Lyla Brooke Chambless; her parents, Nandor and Andrea Simanyi; her sisters, Katalin Esther, Eva Clay, and Kristin Kuhlmann; and her nieces, Kaylee, Jackie, Evelyn, and Mary. She is preceded in death by her grandparents.

A small family gathering was held to honor Flora's life on March 14, 2026. She will always be remembered for her infectious laughter, generous heart, and fearless spirit.
