Frances Donehoo Presson

Birmingham - Frances Donehoo Presson (93) passed away peacefully on December 12, 2016. She was born December 17, 1922 to the late Ralph Montgomery Donehoo and Frances Ethel Scott in Cobb County, GA. Frances was preceded in death by her brothers Patrick Benjamin Donehoo, Ralph Scott Donehoo, William Montgomery Donehoo, Samuel Young Donehoo, John Timothy Donehoo and her loving husband of 59 years, Robert G. Presson. She is survived by her son Robert "Robin" G. Presson Jr., MD; his wife, Susan K. McIlwain and their children Elizabeth (Andy) Cochran, Katharine Presson and her daughter Elaine Frances P. Ethridge and her children Rachel Martin, MD, Joshua (Kari) Ethridge, Sarah Ethridge and Rebecca Ethridge. She is also survived by her sister Sarah D. Chapman of Vidalia, GA. Frances obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and her master's degree from Samford University. She was a retired school teacher with the Jefferson County Schools. Frances was a member of Shades Crest Baptist Church, Sunset Rock Chapter of the DAR, previous member of the Shades Crest Literary Club of Alabama and the Shelby County Art Association.

Her services will be officiated by Reverend James Auchmuty at Southern Heritage (Pelham, AL) on December 20th at 2:00 with graveside services to follow. Visitation for family will be from 12:00 to 1:00, with visitation open to the public from 1:00 to 2:00. Frances was a lover of the arts and her family has requested, in lieu of flowers, to send donations in her honor to the Shelby County Art Council.
