Gary Edward Hardin, 73, of Alabaster, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 16. He was a graduate of Shades Valley High School Class of 1969 and Jacksonville State University Class of 1973. Gary started working with Post Welding Supply Company in 1976 and stayed in the Welding Industry for 46 years until his retirement in 2022. He exemplified servitude and was a devoted husband, father, brother and friend to so many – Always putting his own needs a distant second to others.
An avid outdoorsman, there are very few lakes or properties in Alabama that Gary didn’t fish and hunt – Taking much more interest in the fellowship with his hunting colleagues than the experience itself.
A lover of softball, he recently estimated that he’d played over 1,500 games in the past 30 years – Once again, the camaraderie with teammates taking precedence over wins and losses. Gary’s greatest gift was that of being a devoted husband to Donna – She was the light of his life and he was hers – They were a true blessing to each other.
He and Donna are avid members of Westwood Baptist in Alabaster. Everyone who knew Gary, was better off for it - He was truly loved by all!
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles Edward & Betty Jean Evans Hardin. He is survived by his Wife, Donna Hardin; Daughter, Heather Hardin Davis; Sister, Martha Hardin; Brothers, Alan Hardin (Leigh) and Paul Hardin; Grandchildren Brittan, Avry and McGuire Davis.
Visitation will be Friday, September 20th from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Southern Heritage Funeral Home – 475 Cahaba Valley Road – Hoover, AL 35124 – Graveside Service to follow at same location.
