George was born in Chattanooga, TN on April 29, 1940 and graduated from Carson-Newman College where he received his Bachelor's degree. In May 1964, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Lemons.
He had a successful career working for U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for most of his life. Aside from being a hard-worker, George enjoyed his spare time as a member of Steele Methodist Fellowship. He also had a passion for the ARC and for politics.
George is preceded in death by his beloved son, Michael David LaFerry.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy LaFerry, and his church family.
A Visitation for George will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124 followed by a Service of Celebration of Life at 11:30 AM. A Committal Service will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
