

Glenda Gail Maxwell, age 85, of Alabaster, Alabama passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022. She was born December 25, 1936 in Gadsden, Alabama. For her parents, her birth was one of their most cherished Christmas gifts.
More than her birthday gifts and cake, her quality time with her growing family together at her home brought Glenda the most joy on Christmas Day. Among her family members and throughout her community, her life exemplified a deep appreciation of music. She devoted countless hours to teaching children and adults how to play the piano, and she served as pianist and organist for numerous churches. In her leisure, she enjoyed painting and traveling.
Glenda was preceded in death by her husband Charles Maxwell, to whom she was married on March 31, 1957, and her parents, Wherry Z. Allen and Katie Mae Ellison Allen.
Survivors include Glenda's children, Amy Heartsill (Keith), Cindy Miller (Derek), Beverly Davis (John), and Darin Maxwell (Peggy); and grandchildren, Matthew Miller, Ryan Miller, Allen Miller, Angela Johnston, Joshua Heartsill, Jennifer McMorris, Eric Davis, Kelly Holl, Katie Vokus, Michael Davis, Laura Maxwell, Marcus Maxwell, Katie Kidwell, Chris Kidwell, and Lissa Maxwell. Glenda is also survived by her 18 great-grandchildren.
Glenda's family will greet friends at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 1-2 p.m., followed by the graveside service at 2 p.m. at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
