

Mr. Ferguson was a veteran serving in World War II from June 1943 to May 1946. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corp. He served in the Pacific Theater with the invasion of Okinawa and the occupation of Nagasaki, Japan. He also served in the National Guard U.S. Army Reserves from 1948 to 1950.
After the military, Mr. Ferguson went to work for Western Auto Supply Company as a store manager in Birmingham. In 1970, he opened a franchise store with a family-owned Western Auto in Montevallo, Alabama and operated it until his retirement.
Mr. Ferguson was a member of Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Ann (Waites) Ferguson; son, Ronald W. Ferguson; mother, Edna Mary Kraemer-Ferguson; father, Henry John Ferguson Sr.; brothers, Henry John Ferguson Jr. and Wilber L. Ferguson; sisters, Emelda Frye-Dodson and Theo Ferguson.
Survivors include Mr. Ferguson's brother, John "Jack" Ferguson; sister, Charlotte May Foley; son, Richard H. Ferguson; daughter, Carol Ann Ferguson Priebe; grandchildren, Adam Ferguson, Anna Ferguson Coutant, Kit Ferguson, Nicole Haywood, Jackie Seay, Alayna Priebe, Rachel Priebe, Katie Priebe, and Will Priebe; and great-grandchildren, Thomas Haywood, Savannah Seay, Becket Coutant, Graham Haywood, Landon Seay, and Eleanor Coutant.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, immediately followed by the 2 p.m. funeral service at Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
