

Imogene “Jean” Davenport White, age 97, died on December 31, 2015 after a brief illness. Mrs. White was born and raised in Porterville, MS, but was a longtime resident of Vestavia Hills, AL. She was a member of Trinity United Church in Homewood.
Her husband of 54 years, JC White, preceded her in death, as well as four sisters (Bernice, Ruby, Sadie and Helen) and six brothers (Rogers, Roy, Raymond, J.W., Calvin, and Spencer). Survivors include her daughter Rebecca White Tidd (Byron) and son John Carroll White of Birmingham; her granddaughters Andrea Tidd (Laura) and Dr. Emily Tidd Kimberly (Michael); and three great grandsons Jack, Spencer, and Nate Kimberly, of Kensington, Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. White will be remembered as a loving Mother and Grandmother (aka Mama Jean) who was selfless throughout her life, always putting the interests of others first. She cared for her family with soft words and unwavering support. She was always there and shared generously her time, talents and resources throughout her life to help family and friends. We will all miss her deeply.
Family will receive friends on Sunday January 3rd from 1pm to 2pm with graveside service to follow at Southern Heritage in Pelham. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church in Homewood.
