Jack was preceded in death by his parents, James Kenneth Davis of Clearwater, Florida and Francis Sue Porter Davis of Tennessee, and his brothers, Richard Davis of Delaware and Hugh Davis of Florida.
For 54 years, Jack shared a beautiful marriage and true partnership with his beloved wife, Judy Anne Alexander Davis. Their love story was one to admire and aspire to — a bond filled with devotion, laughter, and deep affection. Even as dementia slowly took many memories, the love Jack held for Judy never faded; the looks he gave her were always full of pure, unmistakable love. He also cherished life with their adored dog, Daisy Mae, who brought him comfort and companionship.
Jack was a devoted father and grandfather. He took great joy in living just a mile away from his son and best friend, Jay Alexander Davis, daughter-in-law Paula Schwabe Davis, and their four children, Alexander, Jack, Porter, and Emily. Jack treasured time spent with his daughter, Jan Alise Davis Schuettpelz, her husband Eric Schuettpelz, and their daughter Olive, who live in Washington, DC. Family was always at the heart of Jack and Judy’s life, and nothing made Jack happier than gathering with his children and grandchildren.
A proud graduate of Florida State University, Jack passed down his love for the university — and especially Seminole football — by watching and celebrating games with his family throughout their lives. Professionally, Jack first spent many years in data conversions, where he put his sharp mathematical mind to work, and later found great enjoyment working in real estate, a career that allowed him to do what he loved most: talk with and connect with people.
Jack found peace and joy in nature. He loved fishing and was an avid gardener, always striving to grow the perfect tomato, camellia, or the most robust grapefruit tree. He delighted in watching and identifying birds at his many feeders and took playful pride in trying — and failing — to keep the squirrels away, secretly enjoying their antics just as much.
Jack will be deeply and profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A service celebrating Jack’s life will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, which adjoins the funeral home at 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or to a charity of your choice.
