

Jim was born on January 6, 1933 in Dayton, OH, grew up in Harriman, TN, and raised his family in Vestavia Hills, AL. He was an active member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church, where he started and taught the Men's Sunday School class for many years. Later he joined Briarwood Presbyterian Church.
Jim was known as a tall man of stature and character. He was a most-giving, fun-loving man who enjoyed life, never met a stranger, and loved to share a story.
A U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, Jim earned his engineering degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marlene Hild, and one son, James Hild, Jr. Survivors include Jim's daughters, Teresa A. Horn (Doug) and Cheryl R. Hild; grandchildren, Lee Poff, Luke Poff, James Hild III (Kendra), Justin Hild, and Anna Beth Hild; great-grandchildren, Ava, Addison, and Aubrey Hild; brother, Charles "Pepper" Hild (Wanda); niece, Pamela Parisian (Dean); and nephews, Adam Hild (Lisa) and Jason Shroyer. Jim also leaves behind Tanner, his beloved dog and constant companion.
A private service has been planned.
