

After graduating at West End High School, Kyle served in the U.S. Army during and after World War II. He attended Birmingham Southern College, the University of Alabama, and Emory University. At various times he was a Methodist minister, psychiatrist, and world traveler.
Kyle never met a stranger. He loved to dance, was active in Toastmasters, and was known for his dramatic recitations of memorized poems like Casey at the Bat and Gunga Din. While living in Michigan and North Carolina, he traveled to teach in distant places, including China, Cambodia, and Russia.
The eldest of four children, Kyle is predeceased by his parents, James Kyle Elliott and Frances Elizabeth Williams Elliott; brothers, Gerald F. Elliott and David G. Elliott; and sister, Anne Marie Bailey.
Survivors include Kyle's sister-in-law, Rosemary Elliott (David); brother-in-law, Allen Bailey; and nephews, D.J. Kyle Elliott, Gerald F. Elliott Jr., and Mark Bailey.
The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. Also on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, the gravesite committal service will be at 1:15 p.m. at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo.
