

James C. Prince, Jr., (Jim), 86, of Hoover, Alabama, went to be with his Savior on Saturday, October 27, 2018. Jim attended Central Park Elementary and was a 1950 graduate of Ensley High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 4 years during the Korean Conflict, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Strategic Air Command. Jim attended Birmingham Southern College and graduated from the University of Alabama with honors in August 1957, with a degree in Geology. The night following his graduation, he married the love of his life, Blanche Boatright.
Jim retired from U. S. Steel Fairfield Works in 1986 after 29 years of service as a supervisor in the Sheet Mill. He also retired from Acme Steel in Leeds, Alabama after 10 years of service. Jim had been a member of Shades Mountain Bible Church and Steel City Community Church. He was also active in the Central Park Boys Club, Hoover Grief Support and the Hoover Senior Center. He will always be remembered as a kind and caring person who was committed to his Savior and willing to share his faith with others. He was also a loving and faithful husband and father.
Jim is preceded death by his wife, Blanche, daughter, Pam Jowers, Sister, Bettye Hester, and his parents, Cecil and Ruth Prince. He is survived by his son, Jeff Prince; daughter, Cindy Bishop. Grandchildren, Heather Stephens (Bobby), Brandon Campbell (Sarah), Candace Powell (Ryan), Cameron Bishop, Chandler Bishop (Meredith), Jonathan Prince (Emily), Ashlyn Lang (Stuart). Seven great children also survive.
The family would like to thank AlaCare Hospice and his caregiver, Chris Williams for their loving care to our father in the final months of life.
The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, Alabama. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at 1 p.m. in the chapel at Southern Heritage with interment following in the Southern Heritage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Samaritan's Purse.
