James Oliver Walker Sr.

Walker, James O. age 84 of Hoover, AL. passed away on June 28, 2014. James was a member of Vestavia Hills UMC and his Fellowship Class for over 40 years. He graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Engineering. James enjoyed coaching little league baseball, boy scouts, fishing, hunting and golfing. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace T. Walker; son, James O. (Tabitha) Walker Jr. ; grandchildren, Melissa and Bryan Walker; great-grandchildren, Destiny, Collin, Hunter and Alex McGrath; sister, Mary “Jean” DeGroat; brother-in-laws, Curtis (Shirley) Turpin and Michael (Stephanie) Turpin; sister-in-laws, Alice Turpin and Rosemary (Richard) Farren. Mr. Walker also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 1:00-2:00 with the Celebration of Life Service starting at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery. The family would like to thank everyone in their Fellowship Class and Vestavia Hills UMC, The Sanders Family , Carol and Amedysis for all of their love and support.
