Jane Gunn Gunn Martin

Jane Gunn Martin, age 84, of Fairhope, Alabama and formerly of Vestavia Hills, Alabama passed away on October 29, 2011. She was born on April 26, 1927 in Calera, Alabama to James Ellwood Gunn and Artelle Crawford Gunn. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Dwight Gunn and Peggy Smith. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James A. Martin; son, Henry T. Martin(Diane) of Hoover, Alabama; daughter, Leslie M. Edgemon of Pt. Clear, Alabama ; grandsons, Alan H. Martin, Clay Edgemon and Cody Edgemon and brother, James Gunn of Richardson, Texas.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 1st at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church 14775 Oak Street Magnolia Springs, Alabama with Rev. George G. Riggal conducting. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon with the funeral service to follow. A memorial service with be conducted in the Birmingham area on Thursday, November 3rd at Southern Heritage Funeral Home 475 Cahaba Valley Road Pelham, Alabama. Visitation with be from 4:00pm – 5:00pm with a memorial service following. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the International Book Project in Lexington, Kentucky or to the Altar Guild at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Magnolia Springs, Alabama or to the Altar Guild of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. Special thanks to the medical staff and caregivers at both Thomas Hospital in Fairhope and Mercy Medical in Daphne.
