Jerry M. Caffee left this world for an everlasting life with his savior the Lord Jesus Christ on April 8, 2018. Jerry was preceded by his father, John William Caffee; his mother, Vida Jane Ellis; and his brother, Donald Caffee. He attended North Birmingham Elementary School, Phillips High School and Paul Haynes High School. He married his childhood sweetheart Gloria Faye Abney and they have been married 69 years. She has always been his love and best friend.
He is survived by a son, Robert D. Caffee (Tracy); and daughter, Yolanda Faye Caffee Smith. He leaves behind his grandchildren that were also the love of his life, Ciara D. Caffee, Orry Nicholas Smith, Robert Aaron Caffee, Gracie Plyler, Mary Plyler.
Jerry worked for Sloss Industries for 38 years. He was the manager over power generation and mineral wool plant. He loved all the people he worked around.
He served in the USAF from 1951 to 1955 being discharged as a S/SGT.
Jerry attended Kingwood Assembly of God, where he was involved with the Nifty over 50 Ministry. He loved all those involved in this ministry. He also attended Union Springs Baptist Church. He was a Christian man who loved the Lord.
The family will receive friends at a visitation on Wednesday April 11 from 10:00-11:00am at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham. A celebration of Jerry's life will begin at 11:00am. Burial will be at Alabama National Cemetery, next to the American Village on Hwy 119-South at 1:15 April 11. Bro. Larry Jones will be officiating.
