She was born in Montgomery, AL on December 5, 1934. She married Richard Crooks in May 1956. They were married for 61 years, and together they navigated various USAF assignments until he retired. He preceded her in death.
In her later years, she received her degree in Accounting from Troy University and worked as an accountant for the state of Alabama in the Public Health Department.
In her spare time, she was a master gardener and belonged to several garden clubs. She also loved to travel.
She is survived by two daughters, Diana Crooks Taylor (Bill) and Christine Crooks Hutchens (Hutch- deceased); one son, Richard James Crooks, Jr.; and four grandchildren, Jessica Genry (John David), Rachael Taylor Kerins (Sean), Austin Hutchens (Juliet), and Payton Hutchens; and two great-grandchildren, Finnian (Finn) Ray Kerins and Hadley Jean Hutchens.
A Celebration of Life is planned for February 21, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Morningstar Methodist Church, 11072 County Rd 11, in Chelsea, AL. No formal visitation or graveside service is planned. Pastor Mark Harvard will officiate.
