

John C. Evans, born January 17, 1946, to Harry and Elizabeth Evans in Birmingham, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025. He was a proud son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather who left behind a legacy of love, service, and hard work.
John received his formal education at Shades Valley High School in Birmingham and continued his studies at the University of Montevallo. On July 3, 1998, he married Carol Meffert Evans, sharing many joyful years together. John served honorably in the United States Army, a testament to his deep patriotism and dedication to his country.
As the owner of J.E. Construction, John built a successful business and earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike. In his personal life, he was an avid golfer and hunter, often spending his leisure time enjoying these passions and cherishing moments with his family. John was a member of the Home Builders Association of Alabama and the Chace Lake Country Club, where he made lifelong friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Elizabeth Evans; his sister, Susan Evans DeFoor; and his brother, Chuck Evans. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Meffert Evans; son, Chris Evans; stepchildren, Matt Sterley (Jordan), Michelle Sterley (Bryant), and Rachel Caver (Ross); grandchildren, Madden, Peyton, and Sutton Sterley, Evelina, Raelynn, and CJ Irwin, and James and Lucy Caver; his sister, Harriet Evans Dupuy; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
John’s life was marked by his deep love for his family, his unwavering work ethic, and his generosity of spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
It was Johns wishes to be cremated. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
