. John Jay Wright Jr. age 26 of Pelham, AL passed away October 27, 2009. John was born in Gainesville, FL and was raised in Marietta, Ohio, before moving to Pelham, AL in 2002 He was a Specialist on Active Duty in the U.S. Army. He had served a 15 month tour in Iraq with the 3rd Infantry Division. He was stationed in Ft. Stewart, Georgia with the 3rd ID in Field Artillery. John is preceded in death by his father John Wright,his paternal grandparents, Foe and Patty Page, as well as his maternal grandparents George and Mary Helen Wright.. He is survived by his parents, Deborah and Marty Smith, wife, Georgia Wright, his sister Megan Golson, brothers Joshua Wright and Matt Smith, and step Grandmother - Dot Furmanski.Funeral services for John will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL. His family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Southern Heritage. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Johns name to Make a Wish Foundation.
