Joseph R. Miller

Joseph (Joe) R. Miller, 81, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, to be with the Lord. Born on June 29,1944, to Margaret Miller, Joe built a life defined by dedication to family, integrity in his work, and a lifelong passion for Alabama football.

Joe was a graduate of Howard (Samford) University and earned his Certified Public Accounting certificate in1972, a milestone that marked the beginning of a long and respected career. For nearly five decades, he shared his life with his beloved wife, Sheri Miller. Together they built a strong and loving family that remains his greatest legacy.

Joe is survived by his wife, Sheri Miller; his children, Joseph (Jamie) Miller Jr., Melissa Miller, Kim (Bryan) Stack, Eddie (Sonya) Burnell, and Michael (Aleasha) Burnell; and his six grandchildren Grayson and Carter Miller, Jordan, Beckam and Owen Moore, and Alexander Burnell, all of whom he loved immensely. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Miller and Luther Miller Sr., his sister, Sylvia Goodwin, and his brother, Luther Jr. Miller.

Joe was very loved and will be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend–someone whose quiet strength and unwavering devotion touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A private family service will be held to honor Joe’s life.
