Freddy graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He married Barbara Thompson "Bobbie", on December 20, 1975.
Freddy enjoyed a successful career in engineering, working with Southern Company Services and later with Mercedes-Benz in Tuscaloosa. He dearly loved his family, was a devoted Alabama football fan, enjoyed music, and had a special affection for all the family pets.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Charles and Gladys Thompson, and brother, Charles Robert Thompson "Bobby".
Freddy is survived by his wife, Barbara Thompson "Bobbie"; children, Cristy Tayloe (Massey), and Michael Thompson (Kelsey); grandchildren, Will Tayloe, Carter Tayloe, and Parker Tayloe, Brooks Thompson, Blake Thompson, and Brody Thompson; sister, Judy Thompson McCullers.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to be made to the Shelby County Humane Society.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with a celebration of life to follow at noon at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham.
