

Larry Wayne Burdette, age 62, of Maylene Alabama, passed away December 14, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ila Welch Burdette;, daughter, Jaime Green Lester (Heath); step-daughter, Sophia Bowman Buchanan (Allan); step-son, Douglas Bowman (Andrea); sisters, Diane Hutcheson (Ronnie) and Joan Babson; grandchildren, Rachel And Trey Buchanan, Liberty and Mackenzie Lester, and Hannah and Emily Bowman. He was preceded in death by one brother, Benjamin Raleigh Burdette III.
Larry was born in Sanford, Florida, January 26, 1954 to the late Benjamin Raleigh Burdette II and Margaret Cobbs Burdette. He lived in Ozark, Alabama and was a 1972 graduate of Carroll High School. He went on to become a registered architect and long-time partner in Sims Architectural Studio, Birmingham, Alabama where he primarily did hospital design.
In his lifetime, Larry served as a police officer in Ozark and Montgomery Alabama. He also served as a member of the Jaycees in Ozark and Birmingham. International fashion model and published author can also be added to his list of accomplishments. He was most proud of his family and his membership in the Pelham Church of Christ.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. A selfless, patient and kind man. He emanated that beautiful light that all Christians are supposed to exhibit to the world.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m, Friday December 16, followed by the funeral at 11 a.m at the Pelham Church Of Christ in Pelham, Alabama with Pastor Dick Stzanyo officiating. A graveside service will be held in Ozark, Alabama at Woodlawn Cemetery, Sunday December 18, 2 p.m. Southern Heritage funeral home of Pelham, Alabama directing.
