Leonard Anthony Rose, Sr., (age 94), devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle and Friend, was born to eternal life on February 5, 2022, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.
He was a native of Birmingham, AL and a graduate of Phillips High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Forces. He had a long career in real estate as the owner and broker of Rose Realty.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents Tony and Marie Rose, by his 5 siblings and their spouses, and his beloved wife of 54 years, Judy Crowson Rose. He is survived by his 4 children: Judy Ann Leasure (Tim), Winnie Marie Easterling (Rick), Leonard Anthony Rose, Jr. (Darylene), and John Shannon Rose (Heather); his 13 grandchildren: Brittany Finnegan (Ryan), Katie Leasure (engaged Jack Moore), Lauren Batson (Ryan), Zach Leasure (engaged Janel Foster), Chase Easterling, Jarrett Easterling, Carson Easterling, Parker Easterling, Michael Watson (Traley), Emily Rose, Joey Rose, John Daniel Rose, and Sarah Rose; 10 great-grandchildren: Molly Epps, Micah Finnegan, Kyler Finnegan, Simon Finnegan, Harper Batson, Carter Batson, Harleigh Batson, Rowan McCrory, Brooks Watson, and Kashton Watson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Leonard’s life was the embodiment of his constant faith and devotion to his family. He was a devout Catholic. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church for many years before joining St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Birmingham, AL.
Leonard loved being with family, spending time with them and helping them in any way that he could. He enjoyed going to church, watching Auburn football and Fox News, and eating pasta suga and hot McDonald’s fries.
Visitation will be Monday, February 7, 2022 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 7340 Cahaba Valley Road. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Southern Heritage directing.
