GEORGE, LILA FAYE GRAHAM, age 85, of Montevallo, Alabama, died in Christ peacefully on Sunday, October 14, 2012 after a short lung illness. She was predeceased by her husband Norman George, brother Charles Graham, sisters Imogene Malone and Patricia Owen, and grandson Scott George. Survivors include three sons, Norman "Corky" George (Patsy) of Montevallo, Roddy George (Denise) of Montevallo, and Dr. Gregg George (Kathy) of Panama City Beach, Florida; nine grandchildren, Lani George, Erin Hayes (Ben), Nathan George (Tricia), Lee George (Deah), Laura Elgin (Gary), Gregory George (Annalisa), Tim George (Paige), Kelley Brannon, and Andrew Brannon; 11 great-grandchildren, Will and Sara Hayes, Gracie George, Elisha and Sam George, London, Ryder and Piper Elgin, and Scott, Asher, and Nehemiah George; brothers, Duke Graham, Harold Graham, and Ben Graham (Eloise); sister, Jeanette Glaze; many nieces and nephews; and "adopted" family member, friend, and caregiver Katherine Drain. Lila was an active member of First Baptist Church of Alabaster, Alabama, and was a former active member of Central Park Baptist Church. She took care of babies in the nurseries of both churches for more than 60 years. She loved to care for her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lila's door was always open to anyone who wanted to come. She especially loved to cook for family and friends, all of whom loved her specialties. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. The graveside service will be at 12:30 on Wednesday at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo with Dr. Gregg George and Rev. Mike Byars officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Children's Ministry, First Baptist Church Alabaster, P.O. Box 525, Alabaster, AL 35007.
