After she attended college at Providence Bible Institute (now Barrington College) in Rhode Island, Lynn worked at Bankers Trust on Wall Street. While working at the Jersey Shore during Summer 1951 before her final year of college, she met a young soldier named Bob Green stationed there on his way to Europe. They fell in love, corresponded during his time overseas, married in 1951, and remained deeply devoted to one another until his death in 2010.
Lynn spent her life in service to others through her work as a mother, wife, school teacher, and servant of Christ. After retirement, she and Bob volunteered helping with marriage enrichment seminars for Campus Crusade Family Ministries and served as mentors for younger couples at their church. Lynn and Bob were dedicated to praying for others daily, a practice that she continued when she was no longer able to physically serve.
Lynn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Green Sr., and her son, Stephen Milton Green. She is survived by her daughter, Delores "DeeDee" Rush; sons, Robert "Bob Green Jr. and Douglas "Doug" Green; her children's spouses, who she considered her own children, Barry Rush, Lorraine Green, and Cindy Green; her seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family of relatives, in-laws, and friends who could not help but love her for her sweet, loving, and selfless disposition. They all feel her loss deeply, but rejoice in her gain of a new body and her reunion with loved ones and her Savior in heaven.
Lynn's family will greet friends on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama from 1-2 p.m., followed by A Service of Remembrance at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
