Mary Jo McGuire Martin

Mary Jo McGuire Martin, of Hoover, AL, passed away Friday morning, November 11, 2016. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles T. McGuire and Betty Brashier McGuire Crawley, and two sisters, Bertie McGuire Kent Rich and Betty Mae McGuire Rufus.

Survivors include Mary Jo's husband of 69 years, Calvin C. Martin; two sons, Calvin Martin Jr. (Sandra) and Sam J. Martin (Pam); three grandsons, David S. Martin (Gina), Jeremy K. Martin (Angel), and Dion B. Martin; one granddaughter, Lacey Martin Viner (Heath); three great-grandsons, David T. and Andrew C. Martin, and Reese J. Viner; and five great-granddaughters, Alaina B. Martin, Riley J. Martin, Genevieve L. Martin, Neely M. Viner, and Elizabeth J. Viner.

Mary Jo was a charter member of Bryan Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she was a Ruling Elder, church secretary, and treasurer. For many years, she taught the youth in the church.

Mary Jo was employed for 40 years at State Farm Life Insurance Company as a life insurance underwriter and a supervisor.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Bryan Memorial Presbyterian Church, immediately followed by the 2 p.m. funeral service at the church. Burial will be at the adjoining Bryan Memorial Cemetery.
