Matthew V. Waugh

Matt graduated from Parrish High School in Selma and earned his undergraduate degree in marketing at the University of Alabama, where he was an active member in Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He worked in sales for Monroe Calculators in Birmingham, Alabama and as owner at Gulf Coast Mailing Systems in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Matt was married to the former Jane Smith on June 29, 1968. In addition to Jane, Matt leaves behind to cherish his memory: Daughter, Rebecca Waugh King (Jay); son, Darrin Matthew Waugh (Dana); grandchildren, Matthew Tyler Waugh, Grayson Madding King, Brady Hudson Waugh, and Smith Challen King; brothers, Archie Waugh (Shirley) and Wayne Waugh (Sheila); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Matt had many interests, including motorcycles, power parachute airplanes, and watching his grandsons' sports. He was quite a character and will be missed by many people, especially his four grandsons.

The family will greet friends from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, immediately followed by A Celebration of Life for Matt Waugh at 2 p.m. at the funeral home's chapel. Rev. John Ray will officiate.
