Mildred “Millie” Blackerby was born on May 2, 1935, to the union of Charlie and Novella Glover in Sterrett, Alabama. Millie received her formal education at Vincent High School in Vincent, Alabama, and was a member of North Shelby Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Millie was united in holy matrimony with Robert Donald Blackerby on March 6, 1984. She retired from her position as bookkeeper at Elastic Corporation of America in 1983. Previously, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 25 years for Dr. Browne in Vincent, Alabama.
In her leisure, she enjoyed spending time with family and cooking for them, attending Bible studies, travelling to the North Georgia mountains, and painting.
Mildred Blackerby was preceded in death by: husband Robert Donald Blackerby, sister Doris McDaniel, and brother Charles Glover. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter Anne Bowman Causey (Sam), grandson Nathan Chapman (Stephanie), and grandson Jacob Chapman (Marla).
Visitation will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 10:00 AM, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. A private family burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
