

Mildred C. Neeley, age 94 of Homewood, AL, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026. She was born to Oscar and Ozella Cox on November 13, 1931, in Chilton County, Alabama. She was a graduate of Isabella High School. Mildred dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker, creating a warm and loving home for those she cherished. She was a faithful member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, where she found great joy in her church family and community. Mildred had a passion for gardening and cooking. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed working Word Search puzzles and watching trivia game shows, activities that reflected her sharp mind and love of learning. She will be remembered for her kindness, devotion, and the simple joys she brought to everyday life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edsel H. Neeley; parents, Oscar and Ozella Cox; and brothers, Ralph and Wallace Cox.
Mildred leaves behind her daughters, Gail McGowan (John) and Dane Graham; grandchildren, Chris Layne and Kori Hallmark (Destin Matos); sister, Elizabeth Shirley, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. A service will follow in the chapel at 3:00 pm. Concluding the graveside service, the family invites everyone to the funeral home for a reception in Mildred's honor.
