Nancy was born September 25, 1927 in Searcy, Arkansas. Her parents were Perry and Mary Anna Varner. Nancy enjoyed growing up in a family of sisters, she enjoyed singing, and she enjoyed serving her church while she grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Her life turned out more adventurous than she had expected. She married Frank Scruggs, a Little Rock boy who joined the Air Force, so she moved many, many times. She used her numerous talents each time: organizing, sewing curtains, fixing things. All to turn each new place into a home for her family.
Nancy is survived by three children: Dianna Lewis (Larry), Debra Burrell (Mike), and Dale Scruggs (Jan). She had five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Nancy valued her family very much and was constantly thinking of them.
Nancy was married to Frank almost 60 years. Meadow Brook Baptist Church was a big part of her life. They belonged to the Senior Group and the Senior Choir. They went on Senior trips. They did projects such as newsletters and teaching English. It was the core of their lives when they were seniors.
Nancy was a very high-energy person. That is how she was able to do all the many things she turned her hand to. (These things ranged from painting, sewing, crafts, cooking, and gardening to singing and organizing.) All these things she did were remarkable. However, one main characteristic stands out. She was full of compassion for others. She was always thinking about what she could do for other people to make things better for them.
Nancy was full of talent, energy, and compassion. She used those gifts fully during her lifetime. And she was always grounded in faith.
