Oneida Sheppard, 94 of Hoover, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016. Mrs. Sheppard was born in Whigham, Georgia. She moved to Birmingham in 1939 to attend business college. Oneida was a charter member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. She was also an avid gardener who loved sharing her flowers and vegetables.
Mrs. Sheppard is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Marshall Ralph Sheppard. She is survived by her son, Marshall Ralph Sheppard, Jr. (fiancée, Pam Barrett); daughters, Jane Gresham (Bill) and Bettye Arnold; grandchildren, Alex Gresham (Julie), Linn Gresham (Glen Zittrouer), Megan Sheppard, Richard Arnold and Jennifer Arnold; and great grandchildren, Sheppard Zittrouer and Will Gresham, Jr.
The celebration of Oneida’s life will be at 11am on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church (Nurture Fund).
