Oswald Littlefield Aydlett

PELHAM, AL - Oswald "Ozzie" Littlefield Aydlett, 81, of Bossier City, LA entered peacefully into the loving hands of our Lord on March 21, 2012 after a lengthy illness. A private interment ceremony will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL. A memorial service will be held in Bossier City at a later date. Mr. Aydlett was born in Elizabeth City, NC on October 9, 1930. He was one of 13 children of his belated parents, Elijah Frances and Lorena Olds Aydlett. He resided in Bossier City most of his adult life and served in the U.S. Air Force (USAF) as a Master Sergeant during the Korean War and Vietnam War. After his retirement from the USAF in 1973, he owned a heating and air conditioning business for many years. Mr. Aydlett was preceded in death only three months ago by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Meekins Aydlett; two sisters, Shirley Aydlett and Frances Aydlett Turner; and one brother, Herbert Olds Aydlett. Left to cherish Mr. Aydlett's memory are his three daughters, Chanda Aydlett of Bossier City, Carrie Aydlett Boswell and husband Jim of Germantown, TN, and Danette Aydlett Akins and husband Rick of Pelham, AL; and one son, Oswald Aydlett, II. Ozzie is also survived by his grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, and Michael Pitre (and their father Tommy); Jonathon and Kathryn Mezzio; Jameson, Cameron, and Allison Boswell; and Andrew and Marianne Akins. Survivors also include siblings, Katherine Aydlett Johnson of Orange Park, FL, Elijah Francis "Biggie" Aydlett and wife Shirley, William "Billy" Aydlett and wife Joyce, and Ray Aydlett and wife Barbara, all of Charleston, SC; John "J.W." Aydlett and wife Peggy of Perry, GA; Mildred Aydlett Mercer, Carolyn Aydlett Simpson, Wilbur "Chris" Aydlett and wife Alline, all of Grandy, NC; and Jean Aydlett Tarkington of Elizabeth City. Mr. Aydlett is further survived by numerous nephews, nieces and loving friends. The family would like to express its sincere appreciation and love to the nurses and staff of Agape Hospice of Bossier City, Alacare Hospice of Alabama, Shelby Baptist Medical Center of Alabaster, AL, and Mr. Aydlett's wonderful sitter, Tunisia. You have truly been a blessing to the family. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
