

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, immediately followed at 11 a.m. by A Celebration of Patty's Life in Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham. Burial, Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
Patty graduated from Bluestone Senior High School in Boydton, Virginia. and received a Business and Recreational Therapy degree from Longwood College in Virginia. Devoted to a life serving others, Patty worked in Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center as a Recreational Therapist in Knoxville, Tennessee; Lakeshore Rehabilitation Center in Birmingham, Alabama; was the director of the Alzheimer’s unit at Integrated Health Services nursing home in Alabaster, Alabama; and opened her own in-home care business to assist those with needs not met through other medical care services. She was first and foremost mother to her son, Jonathon. She cherished spending time with him at the ballpark, on the water, and just being together. Patty was preceded in death by her husband, Don McLain, and father, James Crews. Survivors include Patty's son Jonathon; mother, Barbara Crews; fiancée Toni McKenzie; siblings Susan Farrell (Kevin Farrell), Kathy Teufert, and Jim Crews; several nieces and nephews; and an abundance of friends. In lieu of flower memorials, Patty asked for contributions to be made to the UAB Transplant Program or charity of your choice.
