

Phyllis is survived by her sister, Margaret Parks of North Carolina; daughter, Connie Duncan of North Port, Florida; and son, Dan (Charlotte) Anderson, also of North Port. Phyllis also leaves five grandchildren, Todd (Michele) Duncan, Tony (Lori) Duncan, Kevin Anderson, Heather (Brian) Keels, and Heidi (Jason) Burton; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Phyllis was born on September 20, 1925 in Iowa to Vera and Raymond Pool. She married Charles "Chuck" Anderson of Peoria, Illinois on November 25, 1944 in San Diego, California, where he was stationed in the U.S. Navy. Following his discharge from the military, the couple returned to Peoria, where they raised their two children.
In the early 1970's, Phyllis and Chuck moved to Alabama, where he worked in the food industry and Phyllis was a homemaker. After Chuck's passing, Phyllis, a great lover of children and babies, began work as a childcare provider in the baby nursery at La Petite Academy in Pelham, Alabama and at her church, Helena United Methodist Church in Helena, Alabama.
In 2005, Phyllis moved to southwestern Florida, where she has resided the past 11 years to be near her daughter. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Ardith Wasson, brother William Pool, son-in-law John Duncan, and grandson Timothy Duncan.
The family will receive friends one hour before the 2 p.m. funeral service Monday, December 19, 2016 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. The burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham. Rev. Angela Martin will officiate.
