Phyllis Peters Spurlock

May 21, 1939 – Nov. 26, 2015

Phyllis Peters Spurlock, 76 of Alabaster, AL passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015.

Mrs. Spurlock was a member of First Baptist Church in Paris, KY and also a member of Abundant Life Chapel in Montevallo, AL. She was active in the church as secretary, adult Sunday School teacher and the President of the Ladies Ministry.

Phyllis was a loving and caring mother, and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Peters and Cassie Lena Mason Peters; brothers, Arthur Peters Jr., William E. Peters, Charles E. Peters, and Henry Lee Peters; sisters, Lillian Amelia Peters and Kathleen Peters Garrison; and great-grandsons, Jacob Stockman and Luke Stockman.

Survivors include Phyllis's husband, Alfonzo Spurlock Jr.; daughters, NancyLena Gillispie Gray and Patricia Jean Fryman (Glenn); sons, James Paul Jones Jr. (Jennie) and Anthony Wayne Spurlock (Teresa); sister, Linda Peters Mattingly; 11 grandchildren, Amelia Gillispie Manasco (Vince), Phillip Carl Gillispie II (Misty), Rebecca Fryman Manderhan (Jay), Jennifer Fryman Brooks (Kris), Victoria Jones Stockman (Joe), Joshua Watts (Bridget), Amanda Everage (Johnny Russell), Stephanie Spurlock (Sean Riley), Heather Spurlock (Michael Ventures), Tiffany Spurlock Dougherty (Daniel), and Tonya Freeman; and 21 great-grandchildren, Robert Blaise Pate, Phyllis Nicole Pate, Isaac Christian Gillispie, Auri Brooks Gillispie, Elijah Phillip Gillispie, Sean Manderhan, Kaitlyn Manderhan, Colin Manderhan, Mackinzie Brooks, Mason Brooks, River Everage, Johnny Russell, Corbin Jayden Watts, Caleb Brylee Watts, Declan Watts, Kaleb Spurlock, Michael Leeland Spurlock, Kaylee Dougherty, Maria Dougherty, Jacob Freeman, and Bryce Freeman.

The graveside celebration of Phyllis Spurlock’s life will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Paris Cemetery in Paris, KY. Pallbearers will be James Paul Jones Jr., Anthony Wayne Spurlock, Phillip C. Gillispie II, Robert Blaise Pate, Brian Peters, Bobby Mattingly II, Daniel Dougherty, and Wayne Roe.
