Mr. Farren was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and was a United States Air Force veteran. Richard was an avid Alabama football fan, and also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds in his backyard. He loved working with his hands, especially woodworking and landscaping.
Mr. Farren is preceded in death by his mother, Vivian Birkemeyer, his step-father, Alfred Birkemeyer, and by his grandson, Jeremy Farren. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Turpin Farren; sons, Patrick David Farren, Michael Curtis Farren (Martha), and John Christopher Farren (Cathy); and grandchildren, Paul Farren, Jordan Farren, Nicholas Farren, Danielle Farren Jones, Amy Farren, Joel Farren, Ashleigh Farren, and Courtney Farren.
The funeral service for Mr. Farren will be at 2pm on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Rocky Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with burial following at Croft-Acton Cemetery. The visitation will be from 1pm until 2pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Rocky Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church Mortgage Reduction Fund.
