Richard Keelan Nelson

"Rick," a graduate of Thorsby High School, received the Bachelor's of Business Degree from the University of Montevallo. He was self-employed for several years as owner of R.K. Nelson Construction.

Rick was a member and deacon at Hunter Street Baptist Church in Hoover, Alabama. In his leisure, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to the lake with family and friends.

Rick was preceded in death by his sister, Teresa Nelson Jackson. He is survived by his wife, Margie Nelson, to whom he was married on October 8, 1988; his parents, Billy and Charlotte Nelson; two children, Matt (Kelsey) Nelson and Mallory (Drew) Miller; and three grandchildren, Ellie, Addie, and Mase.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Affinity Hospice and Passionate Angel Senior Care for their devoted care.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Hunter Street Baptist Church from 12 noon to 1 p.m., followed by A Service of Remembrance for Rick at 1 p.m. at the church's chapel. The gravesite committal and interment will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama. Dr. Buddy Gray will officiate.
